This course enhances fundamental print reading skills by deepening the comprehension of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. It imparts the ability to read and interpret various heating and cooling systems, HVAC symbols, electrical terminology, electrical schedules, types of electrical drawings, plumbing systems, plumbing fixtures, plumbing diagrams, and the three phases of plumbing installation.
The course content is authored and delivered by seasoned professionals in commercial construction, leveraging an online learning platform that organizes materials and remains accessible for two years post-completion. The current (eighth edition, 2023) Print Reading for Construction, Residential and Commercial textbook is included with registration.
The Instructor:
Steve Hutlin graduated from Colorado State University with Bachelor and Masters of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering and spent his career on both the design and facilities side of the HVAC business. Steve spent 30 years at CSU and served as the Executive Director of Facilities Management at CSU. Steve enjoys sharing his MEP experience and has done so since 1990 by lecturing / teaching in the Construction Management program at CSU. His experience provides a unique opportunity to speak solidly about mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
Steve grew up as a son-of-a-plumber and still loves to ski and hike when he is not teaching his two grandsons about renewable energy through their on-site solar photovoltaic and wind turbine model.
