This series of Estimating classes is designed to apply and further develop your estimating skills. This 4-week series will help create an accurate and competitive estimating process. You may not use the entire process, but the intent is to provide information that can be applied to increase the number of estimates you put out, and the quality, accuracy and competitiveness of these estimates.
4-Session Schedule
Week 1: Pre-estimate planning. Quantity take-off for general and material items.
Week 2: Quantity take-off for labor and equipment issues, and conversions. Pricing your direct costs – labor, material, equipment, subcontractors and vendors.
Week 3: Overhead, margins, and markups. Preparing your estimate for presentation – developing a good letter head proposal, and the final bid package.
Week 4: Computerizing the process. Estimating software vs. spreadsheets.
