Construction Estimating - The Process is an 8-part series that is designed to apply and further develop your print reading and estimating skills. This series will help develop an accurate and competitive estimating process that can augment or be implemented at your company. What is learned in each weekly presentation should be used on the job in the ensuing week to augment or improve your company's process. We will talk about conversions and what mistakes are made during quantity take-off.\n\n\n\nWeek 4: Pricing your direct costs - labor\, material\, equipment\, subcontractors and vendors. We will look at what affects pricing and what is usually forgotten when pricing your products.\n\n\n\nWeek 5: Overhead\, margins\, and markups - using them and getting the right numbers to provide a competitive bid.\n\n\n\nWeek 6: Preparing your estimate for presentation - What you need to have in your final proposal\, developing a good letterhead proposal\, and what needs to be in the final bid package.\n\n\n\nWeek 7: Computerizing your estimating process - general considerations\, pros and cons\, and when to consider moving away from pencil and paper.\n\n\n\nWeek 8: Computerizing your estimating process - the pros and cons of spreadsheets versus estimating software\, and how to choose one or the other.
